WCUR hosts a DJ training program every semester for undergraduate students at WCU. No previous broadcasting experience is necessary to join. In only a few weeks, our trainees learn everything required to host a radio show and to participate in a community of professional music lovers. Our members are able to gain experience in broadcasting, production, promotion, and sports broadcasting throughout our committees.
If interested, please email our training director, Emily Girondo, or stop in and sign up.
We are located at 237 Sykes Student Union.
Our first training session for Spring ’11 begins Thursday, February 17th at 7:00 pm in Sykes 255.

I'll be coming in as a freshman in September 2011 and am really interested in this program. I'm especially interested in gaining more interest in the technical side of broadcasting (editing, sound, etc.)

What’s the staff size these days (how many on-air personalities, off-air folk, etc.)? I’ve been listening since I’ve been back living in the WC area, and am impressed with the sound quality and professional air of the program hosts. I was on staff at ‘CUR in the early to mid ’80s, during the time when the money was allocated in the IGA budget for a transition to FM. Congrats on being leaps and bounds ahead of where we were 30 years ago!
Hey Bob,
WCUR has reached a record high this semester with 127 members (all undergraduate students), the vast majority of them currently hosting on-air shows. We appreciate the hard work and dedication WCUR’s staff has had throughout the ’80s and ’90s that gave us our FM license. Because of that, WCUR alumni are always more than welcome to come back and visit the station. I speak on behalf of our executive and general staff when I say that we would love to meet you and hear about your experience with WCUR. Feel free to email our General Manager, Matt Toal, at wcur.gm@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support! I hope you keep tuning in!
I want to become a Dj. I am a student at wcu
I really like the Aunyae and Donyae show on Wednesdays.. Those ladies really help get me through the middle of the day with the hip hop sound… Keep up the good work
