The Sixers beat the Los Angeles Lakers in impressive fashion by a score of 108-91 on Saturday. They were led by Ben Simmons, who posted a monstrous stat line of 28 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists on 80% shooting from the floor. Simmons has stepped up in the absence of all-star center Joel Embiid, who is still recovering from a hand injury sustained in early January. Sixers fans have hoped for Simmons to play a more aggressive style of basketball, to which he has responded by averaging a strong 20 points per game since Embiid’s injury. He and rookie Matisse Thybulle stifled LA on the defensive end, combining for 9 steals. With the victory, the team ties Milwaukee for the best home record in the Eastern Conference at 21-2 and currently sit just under 3 games behind second seed in the East.
