Hey West Chester, we have a special DJ of the Week this week! Two of our DJ's have been selected!

Meet DJ's Haroon Zaman and Vivek Paulose! Haroon loves to chill and listen to music. If you see him walking around campus, you will most likely see him with his airpods in. Haroon loves talking to people and describes himself as a "social butterfly."

Vivek has listened to music for as long as he can remember. He says that DJing on his radio show has been a fun experience for him and he is glad to be apart of the WCUR fam. Vivek's major is undecided, but he hopes to be an architect one day!

Haroon and Vivek describe their show, "RV Talk," as so, "Our show is a chill out and listen to music while doing homework, laying in bed vibin or any type of scenario where you just need to calm down and relax. We also like trying to asking questions that might make you laugh or think about something in a new portrait."

When asked to describe her show, Aaliyah says, "Nonstop talk about K-Pop! My show is all about breaking the stigma around K-Pop and introducing listeners to the music, culture, and language of Korea. I dive into the many years of K-Pop, from 1st to 4th Gen. artists, and play a variety of its styles/subgenres such as K-Rock, K-R&B, Deep house, Psytrance, Noise, Experimental, and everything in between."

A week before Spring Break, WCUR DJ, Amy Klinger, interviewed local artist and WCUR alum, Josh Owens, live on-air! Josh, also known as Lazyacres, is a solo artist who specializes in guitar. He collabed with several other artists, including Slowsie! Be sure to check out his new single "Aloe" now out on Spotify and Apple Music. Exec Spotlight: Erick Klambara

Erick is our WCUR Business Manager! He is currently a senior majoring in Media and Culture with a Journalism minor. A fun fact about Erick is that he plays the electric guitar and has recorded and released multiple instrumental albums.

When asked about his favorite thing about WCUR, Erick says, "I love how welcoming everyone in the station is! I also love getting the chance to rock out and spin some of my favorite tunes for all to hear during my show!"

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Julian Trinchi! Julian is a Media and Culture major with a minor in film criticism. He is a big fan of movies, music, and animals. Julian is also the social media manager of the Sustainable Fashion Club.

Julian describes his show, 'Wolves in Rams Clothing," as so, "My good buddy Paul and I like to switch up themes every week, usually just playing whatever we're in the mood for (which is usually more indie and alt-rock leaning). You can also follow our show's page @wolvesinramsclothing!"

Eddie is our WCUR Programming Director! He is currently a junior majoring in Early Grades and Special Education. A fun fact about Eddie is that he has two younger brothers, one of them is a freshman at Temple right now (he also sometimes joins him on his show).

When asked about his favorite thing about WCUR, Eddie said, "All the amazing people I've gotten to meet and the wonderful shows I get to listen to."

Melina says, "Built to Spill is one of the underappreciated greats of indie and garage rock, having inspired and influenced staple bands of both genres such as Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Strokes. Keep It like a Secret (1999) blends dreamy guitar instrumentals, heartfelt vocals and lyrics, and killer drums to create a nostalgia-evoking masterpiece. My personal favorite album of theirs!"

Sanjana describes her show, "The Crust," as so, "I do my show called 'The Crust' with my good friend, Joe, and some other special guests where we say lots of jokes."

HAPPY MUSIC REC MONDAY WEST CHESTER!! This weeks recommendation is The Groundhog Men's album, "Beyond the Trees." Brought to you by WCUR DJ, Joe Gill!

Joe says, "This is actually my debut album with a band I formed with a good friend of mine. Beyond the Trees is the debut album of The Groundhog Men, a Pennsylvania-based rock/soft rock band. The fourteen-tracked collection of works includes songs written about the general human experience in addition to the introspective view of the band members upon themselves. Paul Vink, the band's pianist and primary guitar player, displays a barrage of unparalleled talent on the keys while Joe's lyrics touch the chords within the heart and mind's ear. Three of the songs also feature another WCUR DJ @erick_klambara on guitar. Check it out on all streaming platforms!"

Emily describes her show, "Crank That Music Boy," as so, "Have you ever heard what music would sound like if God had a SoundCloud he exclusively used to diss track Satan with? Well, then my show is perfect for you! I play a combination of queer-yearning-indie-rock and songs so horrible they’ll leave you wanting to eat your steering wheel.
