Tame Impala – “Patience” Review

So, “Patience” by Tame Impala immediately starts playing, and I get slapped in the face with the blaring piano notes, somewhat imitating an 80’s vibe to it. I already know I’m going to love it. Kevin Parker’s voice has gotten to the point where it is almost recognizable right away. His tendency to bounce around the vocal registers and have fun with it is what makes every Tame Impala song so unique and fun to listen to. When I heard Patience, I DEFINITELY felt a “Currents” vibe to it which made me love this even more. It’s like anything you’d expect from Kevin and the gang. After giving all of “Lonerism” and “Currents” a listen I can safely say I have fallen in love with Tame Impala’s work and I can only imagine what the next project will hold.

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Grace Smith! Grace is a third year Psychology major who hopes to work with kids after graduating! She’s the Social Media Content Coordinator for Purple & Good Productions, a film production club on campus. In her free time you can find her crafting, playing guitar, spontaneously singing karaoke at inopportune times, and hanging out with friends!

Grace describes her show as so, "Airspace is an amalgamation of whatever funky tunes Grace and Noah can come up with during their two hour show. The show is split right down the middle so these twins can truly boogie on their own time, but they meet in the middle for their weekly battle, Friday Night Music Fight around 7pm! Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Noah Smith! Noah is a third-year Business Management major here at WCU, with minors in Business Law and Human Resources Management. Outside the classroom, Noah is the Training Director here at WCUR, he co-founded a student organization called Purple & Gold Productions, and he is a Leadership Consultant in the Office of Student Leadership & Involvement, as well as an intern at the Digital Media Center. WCUR was my jumping-off point for involvement on campus, and since joining in his first semester, Noah has trained well over 100 DJs who are now on the station. Plus he gets to work on awesome projects like our 48 hour broadcast, our new Radio Is Dead campaign, and some website administration.

Noah describes his show as so, "AirSpace is a wide variety of music from your favorite twins with tunes! Noah and Grace each spend their respective hour of the show playing their favorite tunes from the week, and it all culminates at the 7 o'clock hour with FRIDAY NIGHT MUSIC fight! Listeners of the show are invited to vote on two songs put forth by the hosts, and a winner is crowned each night at the end of the show."

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Chris Credden! Chris is a second-year history major, with the goal of becoming a history teacher. He is a workaholic, so you'll often see him in the library or at his weekend job. When Chris is not busy, he likes to be outside, go on car rides, exercise, listen to music, and spend time with his friends.

Chris describes his show as so, "I play whatever comes to mind, usually right as I'm DJing. A lot of my song choices are based on song requests and whatever's been stuck in my head the past week. I segue between songs by sharing a funny event from my day, always relating it to the next song. I ALSO host Eurodance night every other week, where I only play energetic 90s and 2000s club songs. It's a fun time and definitely worth a listen!"
