Who we are

Our website address is: http://www.wcur.org. This website (site) is for West Chester University Radio (WCUR), a student-organization & Radio Station at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. We are directly managed and operated by Student Services, Inc. (SSI), with oversight from the WCU Office of Student Leadership & Involvement (SLI).


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

WCUR makes use of Google Analytics to help analyze how visitors use the site. WCUR does not (and does not allow any third party) use Google Analytics to collect or track any personally identifiable information about visitors to our site. WCU does not associate any data gathered from the site with any personally identifying information from any source as part of our use of Google Analytics. Google Analytics does not associate a user’s IP address with any other data held by Google. Neither WCUR nor Google will link, or seek to link, an IP address with the identity of a computer user.


If you upload any content to this website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. WCUR does not claim any responsibility or liability for the content generated or published by external users to our site. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website if they are published. You also forfeit any expectation of privacy when submitting content via any and all tools available on or contained within this site. When submitting content in any format, to WCUR via this website, you give full license to WCUR and it’s affiliates to redistribute that content.


If you leave a comment, submit a form, or otherwise provide information via methods provided and contained within our site you therefore opt-in to WCUR saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Google Analytics is a third-party analytical tool that uses cookies, which are text files placed on the user’s computer, to collect standard Internet log and visitor behavior information in an anonymous manner. The information generated by the cookie about a visitor’s use of the website (including IP address) is transmitted to Google. This information is then used to evaluate visitor’s use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity.

Who we share your data with

When submitting any contact form, your IP address is recorded and shared with any website administrator or email recipient.

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Any further data collected from this site is retained indefinitely and may be used or deleted at our discretion.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, or have submitted content via a form or other tool, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Contact forms are submitted to the relevant WCUR staff member, and are retained by their email address and the Website Administrator.
