Hey West Chester, meet our final DJ of the Week for the Spring 2023 semester, Jess Huckel! Jess is a second year Graphic Design major with a minor in Digital Marketing. She is also our new Community Affairs director here at WCUR, the Vice President of the Art Collective, and involved in WCU's Hillel! In her spare time, Jess loves to draw, pet stray cats wandering the streets, and revisit old games on her Nintendo 3DS.

Jess describes her show, "Sweet Creatures," as so, "Sweet Creatures is a silly little show that my co-host Lex and I get to play our silly little tunes on! We have lots of fun and the music generally ranges from pretentious hipster indie to y2k pop bops!"

Chris says this about Rich, "If you like rap and are tired of the mainstream sound of todays music I highly recommend artist Rich Amiri. Rich Amiri is an underground rap artists from Boston Massachusetts signed under the Internet Money record label. I really fell in love with his music because of his versatility. From love songs to mosh pit bangers he does it all. His unique voice and flow is a refreshing change from the mainstream rap scene today. With the newest installment of his rap album “Evolution” he adds to his small but growing discography. If you’re not so much into rap I would recommend checking out his song 'keep all that.' As summer rolls around it is the perfect song to blast with the windows down and some friends around."

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Noah Brechbill! Noah is a guitarist and a general music lover, so it’s always nice to share his passion through the station. Between the show, his band, "Poor Man’s Opera," and his individual projects, music encapsulates his life and is a huge part of who he is.

Noah describes his show as so, "'Jammin’ Ram is all about rock and metal. Me and my buddy Sam pick out stuff we listened to throughout the week and bring it all together to an hour of music, usually split by subgenre or artist."

Sometimes I do artists spotlights for the bands I interview, but no matter the theme you are always going to hear something new!"

Joe says this about the album, "'This City isn't Big Enough' is the magnum opus of folk punk legends 'Apes of the State'. A folk-rock opera about breaking up and staying sober, it is impossible not to relate to at least one song on this album. With songs as catchy as they are crusty, this album is a must-listen for whenever you want to not feel so alone. (Also they're from Lancaster, which is cool!)"

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Ava Werner! Ava is a sophomore majoring in Psychology. Outside of WCUR, she is the treasurer of the Sustainable Fashion Club. In her free time she likes to thrift, watch movies, and listen to music!

Ava describes her show as so, "My show name was inspired from the album title, 'Soft Sounds From Another Planet' by Japanese Breakfast. I usually have a different theme each week and I like to play indie-rock/pop, but I play lots of different genres and music from other decades as well!"

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Devin Gray! Devin is a sophomore Social Work major. She joined the radio station after being pestered by somebody she is close with, but honestly decided to join on her own work on public speaking (it has improved a lot thanks to it). Devin also just loves music, music has gotten her through so much; the good, the bad, and she just wants to provide that for somebody else.

Devin describes her show as so, "My show is a mix of all the music I was raised with so it is a lot of rock and roll, a lot of Americana (or alt-country), but I am open to all genres and will play them all usually at once. This show is curated by somebody with ADHD, after-all."

Amy is our WCUR Multimedia Director! She is currently a sophomore majoring in Media and Culture with a minor in Digital Marketing. A fun fact about Amy is that her favorite food is sauerkraut!

When asked about her favorite thing about WCUR, Amy says, "I love the positive environment. WCUR creates a great community of amazing people who are truly committed to seeing their peers and the station as a whole succeed. I've never met a group of individuals who are so kind and dedicated."

The band's unique sound and genre mixing ability are on full display across 4 tracks which combine synth, punk, industrial and many other sounds. Julian is our WCUR Music Director! They are currently a senior majoring in Media and Culture with a minor in Film Criticism. A fun fact about Julian is that he is a big fan of pasta!

When asked about their favorite thing about WCUR, Julian says, "The amazing friends I have made!"

Hey West Chester, meet DJ of the Week, Amy Klinger! Amy is currently a sophomore majoring in Media and Culture with a minor in Digital Marketing. Along with her role as WCUR's Multimedia Director, Amy also works as a Student Ambassador for the College of Arts and Humanities. In her free time, Amy loves to read the many books on her bookshelf and when it is nice outside, go for long runs.

Amy describes her show, "The Grass in Your Yard," as so, "Have you ever heard of the saying 'the grass is always greener on the other side?' Well, if you are like me, you have spent your whole life comparing yourself to others and saying things like, 'If I only was like this I would be happier' or 'If only I had what they have.' Living life in the 'what ifs.' My show is geared towards getting rid of those negative thoughts and loving who you are."
